VLADIMIR GRIGOROVICH was born in Moscow in 1939. The artist studied art professionally since childhood, first attending the Moscow Secondary Art School, and later graduating with MFA from the Graphic Arts Department of the Moscow Pedagogical Institute.
In Russia, Grigorovich had a successful career as illustrator and graphic designer, working for several publishing houses.
The artist emigrated to Israel in 1972, and since 1975 has been living and working in the United States.
For many years he was represented by the OK Harris Gallery in New York, and has had scores of personal and group exhibitions in this country and in Europe.
In Grigorovich's paintings rich painterliness of subdued color nuances, and large, simple surfaces and rhythms are held together by the strong structured composition. His works, depicting old store fronts and doors, are devoid of any textural prettiness or antique sentimentality and present thoroughly modern painterly sensibility.
